The Debt Limit: Made Simple
Get Debt Free:
This video takes you to the United Estates–a gated community in sunny Florida–to help you understand the impact of Congress decision to annually raise our nations debt limit without addressing the out-of-control spending that keeps us buried in debt.

In all likelihood our story will end by us eventually electing a Republican president, who will also double the debt. Every 4 years the one side accuses the other of spending too much, but it’s the fault of both parties. The only prez ever to REDUCE the debt was Bill Clinton and that was largely attributable to the dot-com bubble.
Ignore the propoganda in this video. No matter who’s elected, the problem WILL get worse. No point in choosing based on fiscal responsibility cuz both are bad.
They missed the part where a plane hits the pool house so they jump the fence and kill people in the next estate who own all the chlorine for the pool…
Yea its bad when they cant pay the bills.. Lets Max all our credit cards!!! write HOT CHECKS!! YAHHOOO!!!
It takes 100% of an HOA to disband. How abut we disband USA — only takes 51%
No, I’ve defined US spending as essential, and the debt as not a big deal.
The Archies are in real trouble there
NobleHam, you have just defined the US debt as “essential.” Sorry, I don’t buy it.
Is this the 10,000 pennies guy?
I don’t think it will split the vote they way it is being relayed to us by the media. There are a lot of people on both sides that are tired of what is going on and what has been going on. Common Sense will win out in the end and then we will get this country back in the right direction.
“NobleHam” If we raise taxes then what we are doing is taking money out of the pockets of the working class. By doing this there is less spending and business is hurt. Plus the money that is collected by the goverment will never be used for what it is meant for. Look at the spending today – they are not using the money for what they are writing the bills for.
This is a false analogy, because a lot of the spending the government does is essential, and eliminating the deficit would require cutting some of that essential spending. We need to raise taxes to lower the deficit and eventually the debt, but until then it doesn’t actually hurt us much to raise the debt limit. Our debt is still far from being a huge problem for us. As a percentage of GDP, it’s still under 100%, which puts us in a better position than most of Europe and Japan.
At some point the residents can vote to disband the HOA.
robotmike57,
Progressive taxation is how liberal aristocrats keep the middle class in their place because once you start earning more, the higher tax penalties kick in so you can’t get ahead. Everytime you turn around you hear that some high ranking millionaire demonicrat hasn’t been paying taxes. Obamao raising taxes is a strawman argument. Everyone knows that Congress (now controlled by Demonicrats) sets the budget and raises the taxes. Obamao just signs the bill into law.
Use extreme caution here, WV. A third party at THIS POINT, will do little more than split the conservative vote, thus allowing democrats to win!!!
It has happened before and WILL happen again!
Only one flaw… the narrator mentions @3:25 that “…as citizens of the United States, we live in a community governed by democratic rule…”
Not so. We live in a republic.
Otherwise, this is a great video… sorta like Budgeting for Dummies… you know, sophomoric, uninformed morons.
Out of the ashes will rise the Phoenix. You will know that person when they to rise up. I have a feeling that it will be the third party that takes this country back to its roots.

#1. Congress can keep spending forever. There is no debt limit. The more they get in a hole the more the FED prints money there for inflating the currency and thereby lowering the real debt. To the detriment of its citizens and all U.S. note holders of course.
#2. Who am I supposed to vote for that will lower spending? Democracy is the illusion of accountability. Republicans and Democrats both increase total spending, just on different programs. Thats the real truth.
With 12% of the (black) population in lockstep with leftist politicians and a new redistribution of congressional seats in 2012 to blue states combined with a shrinking and aging white population the time for education is very short.
If Heritage wanted to do some good, I recommend an education campaign on the fiscal policy of the Jefferson Administration, which selectively eliminated taxes, positions, and programs to affect a substantial reduction in the federal debt.
With their economy, the Jefferson Administration had the money to buy Louisiana and attempt to purchase Florida, while concluding a military conflict with the Barbary States.
Forget Reagan, Jefferson is the model for responsible fiscal policy.
Read the news dumb ass. Typical uninformed ignorant Liberal!!!!Even the Liberal media can’t hide the truth commi bastard!!!
LMAO! Whatever you say skippy. Coulterizing your reality doesn’t make it a reality.
Only with the help of a LIBERAL CONGRESS!!!! Thank a liberal for createing and passing these wasteful bills and yes some Republicans have certainly started to walk the LIBERAL path of TAX and SPEND wasteful government . This needs to stop, too many Republicans have started acting like LIBERALS and we need to VOTE THEM OUT!!!! Along with the Socialist Liberals that also hold political positions who are destroying America!!!!
Schools should be teaching this rather than the politically correct self-esteem junk they push.
Actually most adults could benefit from this lesson as well.
Priceless.
LOL! What the hell is it about reatard conservatives claiming they are for fiscal restraint. Any dickhead Republican elected President is a wreckless deficit spender.
